Behind the BENi Brand

Peni (pronouned Beni in his Tongan culture) is the fashion designer behind BENi.

BENi is a high-end streetwear / street-sport brand, creating an impact out there. 

We are on a mission to merge ideas, designs, art and culture: telling a story though fashion and showcasing it to the public.

“When I was young - about eight years old - I was sitting watching TV. I saw a woman walking down a runway, wearing a black fitted bodice top and a huge princess skirt. I remember the outfit; but what I really remember is the audience’s reaction. I knew then that that was the impact that I wanted to have - and I just had to figure out how to create that.”

Fast-forward twenty years and Peni is creating that very same impact with his fashion brand. After training and working in the industry, Peni secured a place in the very first New Zealand Project Runway - consistently impressing the judges with his garments.

Based in Queenstown, Aotearoa, Peni is busy designing the BENi high-end streetwear / street-sport 2019 Winter Collection. Which is set to deliver that impact that he first felt watching that women on the runway.

The BENi summer line is the beginning of the next chapter for this young designer.
